Hi, Gordon here.
As a teenager I graduated with honors from America’s arguably most prestigious preparatory school: Phillips Andover Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. I headed off to college with a rigorous classical education under my belt… completely unprepared for life in the real world. So much for ‘prep’ school. My real education began when I escaped Boston University with bass guitar in hand and lived in a U-Haul, cooking beans over Sterno and gigging with some of the best musicians around: blacks, whites, Asians, druggies… no one cared. If you could play, that was all that mattered. Education in The School Of Hard Knocks knows no race or color, and has no tuition. It’s called living in the real world. By my early 30s I had been at various times a band leader, a corporate events planner, a sailing instructor, a recording studio engineer and a woolen mill manager (to help my retired dad). By my early 40s I could add to that list a home schooling dad, a public speaker on constitutional taxation and a financial risk consultant specializing in moving clients’ nest eggs out of harm’s way. In the years to follow I helped families across America to secure a solid retirement. I helped small businesses streamline operations, outperform the competition and create a legacy for their family. And here I am today, still alive and kicking at 80 (…and just getting warmed up ;- ). I hope you enjoy this newsletter. Lots of good stuff to come.
